   call

1) 사람이나 장소 혹은 번호로 전화할 때는 to를 쓰지 않고 바로 목적어를 쓴다.

   Last night I tried to call to my father back home in Turkey.(*)

2) '어떤 사람에게 어떤 번호로 전화하다'고 할 때는 at이나 on을 쓴다. 'call + 사람 + at(on) 번호'라는 형식으로    쓴다.
   Please call me with number 952-6591. (*)
   Please call me on number 952-65911. 

3) '-을 -으로 부르다'고 할 때는 as 없이 바로 목적어 두 개를 연이어 쓴다.

   Koreans call this room as 'anbang'.(*)
   Koreans call this room 'anbang'.

   calm

1) calm은 최근에 시끄러웠거나 어떤 소동이 있고 난 후에 조용한 이라는 뜻을 갖고 일반적으로 '조용한'은 quiet나 peaceful을 쓴다.

   If you prefer a calm environment, try the countryside.(*)
   If you prefer a peaceful environment, try the countryside.

   car

1) '차에 타다'는 get in(into), '내리다'는 get out of를 쓴다.

   I went into the car and turned on the engine.(*)
   I got into the car and turned on the engine.

   I went out of the car and waited outside the shop.(*)
   I got out of the car and waited outside the shop.

2) '차로 갔다'고 할 때는 by car, '누구의 차로 갔다'고 할 때는 in someone's car를 쓴다. 누구의 차라고 해서 with를 쓰지 않는다.

   He brought me back to Cambridge with his car.(*)
   He brought me back to Cambridge in his car.

   care

1) care는 셀 수 없는 명사이므로 관사를 쓰지 않는다.

   These children need a special care and attention.(*)
   These children need special care and attention.

2) '돌보다(look after)'의 뜻으로 쓸 때는 take care of를 쓰고 '조심하다(be careful)'의 뜻으로 쓸 때는 take care + to부정사를 쓴다.

   Take care of not catching a cold.(*)
   Take care not to catching a cold.

3) careful은 특별한 주의를 기울임으로써 사고나 실수 혹은 손해 등을 피할 수 있을 때 쓴다. 반면에 누군가에게 할 것을 잊지 않도록 하거나 어떤 것을 살펴봐야하는 것을 잊지 않도록 할 때는 make sure을 쓴다.

   Be careful to water the African violets regularly.(*)
   Make sure (that) you water the African violets regularly.

   Be careful! You're about to spill your coffee.
   You should be careful about what you say to her.
