   badly

1) badly는 be pp나 have pp 사이에 쓴다.

   My shoulders were sunburnt badly.(*)
   My shoulders were badly sunburnt.

   base

1) base는 어떤 것의 주된 부분을 말하고 basis는 어떤 것이 발전(발달하거나 만들어질 수 있는 바탕이 되는 매우 중요한 부분을 말한다.

   Political stability provides the base for economic development.(*)
   Political stability provides the basis for economic development.

   bear

1) bear는 애기를 낳는 물리적인 행위를 말한다. 따라서 bear의 주어는 언제나 여자다. 반면에 가족 중 아이의 수나 앞으로 가질 자식의 수를 말할 때는 have를 쓴다.

   The government also controls the number of children that a couple  can bear.(*)
   The government also controls the number of children that a couple  can have.

2) '참을 수 없다'고 할 때는 can't bear it처럼 반드시 it을 써야한다.

   'I can't bear any longer', he said. 'I'm ready to resign.'(*)
   'I can't bear it any longer', he said. 'I'm ready to resign.'

   bed

1) 침대에서 일어났다고 해서 get up from my bed라고 하지 않고 그냥 get up이라고 한다. get up 자체에 이미 침대에서 일어났다는 말을 포함하고 있다.

   Every morning I have to get up from my bed very early.(*)
   Every morning I have to get up very early.(*)

2) 잠자리에 들다. 일어나다 등의 표현 stay in bed, go to bed, get out of bed, lie in bed, be in bed 등에는 the나 소유격(my, his, her)을 쓰지 않는다.

   I decided to stay in my bed this morning.(*)
   I decided to stay in bed this morning.
